Book Review - The Hate U Give
Hello All
This is one of the best books I have ever read. I don't generally like books like this as I prefer to enjoy the fantastic in my escapism but this book is so well written that I was engaged the entire time. It does a great job of giving the black perspective without being ghetto. I have it classified as Urban Fiction in my library but I am sure it will be a classic one day. My only complaint was the length. It could have been a little shorter but overall I loved it and am looking forward to more novels by this amazing debut author. Goodreads gives the following description:
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed.
I give this one 5 out of 5 stars. I'm really excited to see what Angie Thomas gives us next. This is one everyone should read and I pray they have High School students read for years to come ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
